Singapore PM’s wife visits Peranakan museum
GEORGE TOWN: The Pinang Peranakan Mansion received a surprise visitor when Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s wife Ho Ching visited the heritage building which has been turned into a museum. Ho Ching was on a one-day private visit to Penang with some family members.

The mansion’s proprietor Peter S.M. Soon said Ho Ching arrived at about 1pm yesterday and spent close to two hours viewing the Baba Nyonya exhibits. “We were impressed by her interest in our heritage. “This will motivate us to better promote our Peranakan culture,” Soon said. He added that Penang’s efforts to preserve its heritage could lure more tourists, particularly from Singapore.
