Hong Kong's Immigration Department confirmed it is investigating reports that two Hong Kong men were killed while fighting in Ukraine.

The department said it received a request for assistance and immediately contacted the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in Ukraine to verify the situation, including the individuals' identities. It is providing appropriate advice and assistance according to the families' wishes.


Media reports said the two men, aged 23 and 30, arrived in Ukraine last month.

The department said it will maintain contact with the commissioner's office, the embassy and the families to actively follow up.
