【星島日報報道】《逃犯條例》爭議持續，各區陸續出現連儂牆，其中在大埔的「連儂隧道」凌晨再出現緊張場面！一批約400名戴口罩男女乘坐6輛旅遊車到場，撕走牆上紙張，並改貼上印有多名泛民議員及反對修例示威者照片的紙張，以及含咒罵字句的紙張，有人更在隧道口放下多個花牌。警員其後趕至現場，截查約20多人，其中1名女子被警員截查期間，因未能出示身份證明文件，被帶走調查。
事發在凌晨2時許，約400名分別身穿黑白衣服、戴有口罩的男女，乘坐6輛旅遊車抵達港鐵東鐵線大埔墟站外的「連儂隧道」，當中有老有幼，甚至有小童。他們帶同鋁梯及載有膠水的水桶，在牆上貼上印有多名泛民議員及反修例示威者相片的紙，以及貼上寫有「賣國賊」、「去死」等的紙張。至於隧道頂部的「連儂隧道」四字亦被人撕去，改貼上「壽終正寢」。他們又在隧道口放下約12個花牌，並向隧道行三鞠躬禮。
當時隧道內有義工留守，但未有上前阻止，雙方並沒有發生衝突。眾人逗留約20分鐘後，分批乘坐旅遊巴離開。期間警方趕至，並截查其中20名徒步離開的人士，其中1名女子因未能出示身分證明文件，被帶返警署調查，其餘人獲准離開。現場消息指，該批人士並非大埔居民。
區議員區鎮樺表示，在場義工並不介意有人在「連儂隧道」貼上寫有任何內容的紙張，但不要做出破壞行為，認為今次有人大肆破壞，是非常嚴重的行為。他又指，警員當時到場後，有義工向其報告破壞物資的人在50米不遠處，惟警員沒有理會，不但未作截查，反而目送對方離開，認為做法不太公道，已經要求分區指揮官解釋。
