I wish to also inform readers here that not only HK MTR system is truly world class in terms of reliability, their management is also transparent and willing to take responsibility when things go wrong, unlike our MIWs and their cronies in GLCs.

Desmond Kuek is the most qualified person to be the CEO. He's a farking scholar, for fark's sake! If he resigns, who else can take over? When things go wrong, it is damn easy and irresponsible to just reason and walk away from the mess. Be grateful that Desmond is a real man and is staying on to hold the fort.

Dear john, the fort is crumbling, that's the problem.
Please ask him to resign and promote from internal.
Somebody that really knows the working of the MRT inside out.
We do not need somebody that is parachuted in, without any prior experience in running a business, much less the MRT, which is considered an essential service.

The c**nyism is much deeper than I thought. Appalling lack of accountability is symptomatic of the worst form of Central Planning/Control. Much warnings have been given by the alternative press on this cancer. So it takes a visible breakdown to make it real. Or shall the complacency continues amidst all the boasts of No One in this and that.

Trains need to be run by a critical mass of engineers/technicians with prides in their works. You just cannot skydive Scholar-Generals. Top CEO with no experience in the basic of their biz are rare exceptions. (Jack Welch who has been one of the most admired CEO cut his teeth as an Engineer climbing the ladder over decades with GE). So are top mfg firms in Germany and Japan (in particular), they do not sacrifice quality for their products.

Natural Aristocracy indeed…What is it anchored upon Entitlements, Social Engineering Experiments, etc. More to come and with it the erosion of the Singapore Brand ?
