【本報綜合報道】反修訂《逃犯條例》引起香港市民對前景的憂慮，部分人對移民馬來西亞的興趣增加。馬來西亞旅遊部秘書長艾沙姆周一表示，政府會審查所有「馬來西亞-我的第二家園」（MM2H）計劃申請人身份，反修例示威者將不獲批准。
艾沙姆表示，歡迎任何有興趣移居馬來西亞的港人申請，但申請人必須是「真誠」，不能因為潛逃而申請移民。當被問到是否歡迎香港反修例示威者時，他指若有證據顯示申請者為反修例示威者，當局將不會批准申請。此外，內政部會聯繫國際刑警鑑定申請者身份，以確保不是恐怖分子，並對申請擁有最終決定權。馬來西亞政府今年暫時接獲二百五十一宗來自香港的移居申請，而去年則有一百九十三宗獲批。艾沙姆指現時未有最新數據，因此不能判斷是否出現移民潮。
當地旅遊部最新數據顯示，全球一百三十一個國家及地區中，近四萬四千人申請MM2H，最多申請人來自中國，約有一萬四千人。日本則以四千八百八十二人位列第二，孟加拉以四千一百八十七人排第三，英國及南韓排列第四及第五，分別有二千七百二十七人及二千五百六十八人。為了方便申請人，旅遊部打算推行自助化系統。

When asked if he welcomed the Hong Kong anti-reformers, he said that if there is evidence that the applicant is a defender, the authorities will not approve the application. In addition, the Ministry of the Interior will contact the International Criminal Appraisers to ensure that they are not terrorists and have the final decision on the application. The Malaysian government has temporarily received 251 applications for immigration from Hong Kong this year. Last year, 193 were approved. According to the latest data from the local tourism department, nearly 44,000 people in 130 countries and regions apply for MM2H, with the largest number of applicants from China, about 14,000. Japan ranked second with 4,882 people, Bangladesh with 4,187 people ranked third, and Britain and South Korea ranked fourth and fifth with 2,727 people respectively. And 2,568 people.
