吳的妻子早前替其求情時透露，2人在2000年結婚2010年女兒出生，其妻當時已屆40多歲，由於2人想要多1名子女令家庭圓滿一點，於是花費不少進行試管嬰兒，終在2016年成功誕下1名兒子，卻就在其子出生逾2個月後，被告便因本案而被捕，其妻認為被告可能因家庭出現經濟困難，才一度軟弱而犯事。
