12th August 2023 – (Hong Kong) Tony Leung Chiu-wai, the renowned actor, and Carina Lau Kar-ling have been in a loving relationship for 35 years, despite not having children of their own. Their blissful life has garnered admiration from many. However, recent rumours have surfaced about Leung’s alleged secret affair with mainland Chinese actress Cheng Xiao, who is said to have given birth to his child. The rumours intensified when it was reported that Leung had purchased a property in Japan for Cheng Xiao. This speculation has sparked attention and ignited discussions.
According to Taiwanese media reports, Leung and Cheng Xiao were spotted together shopping last year, fueling rumours of a secret love affair that had been ongoing for some time. It was even claimed that Cheng Xiao had given birth to Leung’s child, and he had purchased a property in Japan for her. Carina Lau, Leung’s wife, reportedly travelled to Japan to confront the situation. However, there is no concrete evidence to support these claims, leading many netizens to dismiss them with a laugh. Cheng Xiao, as the person directly involved, responded through her studio, stating, “The rumours are ridiculously false.” Many netizens urged her to take legal action against the rumour-mongers as the situation had become absurd.
Although Cheng Xiao’s studio has denied the rumours, they have persisted in the public sphere. In defence of Cheng Xiao, her fans openly shared her past schedules and activities, highlighting her continuous work commitments, including participation in a street dance variety show. They expressed their frustration, saying, “How could she have given birth? These rumours are beyond belief, even passersby wouldn’t believe them. The perpetrators of these rumours should be held accountable.”
Carina Lau, on the other hand, seems unfazed by the rumours. Recent sightings show her sporting sportswear and a hat, engaging in exercise. She shared a selfie with a serene smile under the shade of a tree, captioning it poetically, “Dusk. After a sudden rain, jogging on the way, I can distinctly smell the faint scent of grass, flowers, and the earth.” Her words exude a poetic atmosphere, revealing that the rumours surrounding Tony Leung have not affected her state of mind.
Cheng Xiao, known for her achievements as a Chinese singer, dancer, and actress, made her debut as a member of the South Korean-Chinese girl group WJSN in 2016. After pursuing solo activities in China, she took a hiatus from the group in early 2018 and officially departed from WJSN in March 2023 after a five-year break.
