Hong Kong police hunt for Rolex thief after knifepoint Yuen Long heist

The robber, thought to be aged between 30 and 40, wore black at the time of the incident

A police manhunt was under way on Tuesday for a robber who made off with 20 luxury watches, worth a total of HK$2.5 million (US$318,982), from a shop in northern Hong Kong after threatening staff with a knife.

Police were called shortly before 3pm when the hold-up happened in a ground-floor shop at the Hop Yick Commercial Centre on Hop Choi Street, Yuen Long.

A police spokesman said “a man rushed into the shop and threatened staff with a knife before fleeing with about 20 watches”.

the robber threatening a male employee with a knife and handing him a bag, ordering him to put the watches into it.

The man then ran out of the shop with the bag and fled on a motorcycle in the direction of Castle Peak Road. The 29-year-old member of staff then called police.

Definitely. I am still saving for my dream Seiko 5.

Seiko is the best, my all time favourite watch, design simple, super accurate to the second, high technology too.

I have no idea about Seiko 5 so I googled now I understand - https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-new-seiko-5-sports-watches

"Seiko has always created watches around specific sets of clearly defined principles. The delineation of the product line offers clarity to buyers – for every purpose, there's a watch. Often times the nomenclature of the watch would hint at its intended use. In 1963, the Seiko 5 line was introduced. The watches were geared towards younger buyers who wanted value and style – and Seiko 5 caught on in a big way. There were 5 traits every Seiko 5 had: an automatic movement, a day/date window, significant water resistance for sporting activities, a crown at 4 o'clock, and durable case and bracelet(or strap). Many of these standards almost seem obvious (except maybe the crown at 4), but that's because watches like the Seiko 5 have contributed to these ideals becoming benchmarks. Seiko managed to produce a watch that met all the above criteria for a price that was agreeable to younger folks. The Seiko 5 watches were designed with purpose and accessibility in mind; the communication materials and strategy appealed directly to an audience that needed a watch like the Seiko 5: the youth of the '60s."
