Historical Tunnels Everywhere - But Not For My Eyes - WHY???

The HM Dockyards and Naval Base at Sembawang has gone down into the History of Singapore as one of the most famous places in connection with the Fall of Singapore to the Forces of the Meiji Emperor.

It had network of tunnels from the hill close to Ontario Road (facing Sembawang Shipyard) right up to Beaulieu House (C-in-C Residence)at Sembawang End.

Such tunnels are also at Labrador Park and many other places. Who knows there may be tunnels below Tanglin too.

These tunnels should NOT be locked up but should be made available to all Singaporeans as a form of education.

Nparks is probably the most kiasee organization full of jiak liau bees. Their only concern is to retire while still in the cocoon and catatonic state. Which means no activities that pose the most remotest danger to the visitors public. On the other hand is SLA/URA who will even sell their grandmother's underwears if there are bidders. Many historical sites related to WWII are demolished without our knowledge. Can anyone verify if Selarang barracks with its famous parade square and 4 corner barracks used to hold British POWs are still there?

Yup, if the NHB had any teeth, they would not have alowed those clowns to just suka suka dig a bladdy tunnel through Fort Canning and demolished the old National Library...

Oh ya, was it the iconic red-bricked bldg ?..that was a great spot for hanky pankies at night.

At one time there were also concrete pill-boxes that were built along the beaches of Katong, Bedok (now reclaimed land) and Changi.

These was used by the army to fire at intruders.

All this are gone too.

At least they should have left intact those that were at Changi.

At least, the Malaysian Government is wise enough.

We can still find these pill-boxes on the route to Mersing and even at Rompin.

These was the route taken by the Japs to come down to Syo-nanto.
