<!-- story content : start --> THE Central Narcotics Bureau arrested two suspected drug traffickers and five suspected drug abusers on Thursday. Officers seized about 2.1kg of heroin worth an estimated $320,000 and $11,000 cash during the raid. CNB said it received information on a drug trafficker in March. He was ordering drug consignments directly from a supplier in a neighbouring country and follow-up investigations showed he had a trusted runner receiving the drugs on his behalf.
At 5pm on Thursday, the CNB received information that the trafficker was expecting a fresh consignment of heroin from his overseas supplier and launched an operation. At 6.40pm on the same day, the trafficker and runner - both unemployed male Singaporeans - were arrested at the trafficker's Jalan Tenteram home. The runner had a bag containing eight bundles of heroin, which weighed about 1.9kg. Another 20 packets of heroin weighing 230g and 3.3g of 'Ice' were found during a search of the premises. Both men may face the death penalty if they are convicted under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
