So, we know the candidate Murali has indicated that he will only treat his MP responsibilities on a part time basis. He claims that there is no need for an MP to spend full time at the job even though he is in an SRC and not a GRC and will be the sole and only MP in that ward. He will be keeping his job at Rajah and Tann. Ok, fine, I do have a problem with this, but not as large as the problem I have with the following tacit admission by Murali.

What Murali should have done if he was a moral person would be to say that if he does this as a Part Time Job, he should have in the very same breath said he will take only partial salary. That is fair and morally upright thing to do. For example, if he says he will discharge his MP duties for only 10 hours a week, then, he should just say that he has voluntarily turn down $13000 in pay and accept only a $4000 salary. In this way, these is some justification for telling everyone that he will work only part time for them.

I think people can see the fairness in this, although its not fair in the regard that they deserve full representation for themselves in Parliament through their MP which can best be achieved if the MP works full time. But lets all be clear on one thing. Mr. Murali's chief source of income by far is from his law practice. Its very possible that even at the full pay of $17K per month as an MP, this could very well only constitute 10% or less of his income from R & T. In other words, he does not need the money. If he was an ethical person, he could have simply said, "look I can only be your MP for part time. and therefore, i don't feel that its proper to take the taxpayer's money for that much. Instead, i will not draw a pay and discharge my MP duties to the best of my abilities on a part time basis".

I think people will accept this and respect this even if they don't like it. But lets face it, he is cut from the same mould as the other PAP candidates. These people are already very wealthy. And really, even $17K a month (a significant amount to most people), is peanuts for a man like Murali who is in charge of 100 lawyers in one of the biggest law firms in singapore. His annual compensation is easily several million $ a year from R & T. But greed drives these assholes. Look at the king of all greedy people, Lee Con You, who continued to draw a MM and MP salary even though all he could do do for the last couple of years of his life was to gasp like a goldfish. LKY is very very wealthy, he does not need to be on the taxpayer's payroll. He should have retired years ago. Ditto for Murali. he does not need the money. But of course, he will take it, and take it with the audacity to tell the residents of BB that he will only serve them part time. Even the Big Evil Lee Con You never dared to tell the residents of tanjong pagar that he will only be their MP part time.

Mr. Murali, here is Papsmearer's way to save your face. Tell the people that you will only take partial salary since you are working partially for them. that will go a long way to help yourself look less like the greedy asshole that you are. And more importantly, Mr Murali, that is the ethical and moral thing to do.

Most voters don't care if their politicians are morally bankrupt. They want a politician who can take care of their town council. If they want a person with a lot of morals, they will turn to their priests, pastors, imams, etc.

Policitians are voted in to fix the economy, provide jobs, safe streets, start economic development, start help programmes for the needy.... Saints usually are not interested in doing such things on a big scale.

Ah Gong was not a saint, but when he died, he was given a hero's send-off by hundreds of thousands because of the way he developed Singapore's economy and provided sinkies with a stable and fair society.

if u want carly rae jepson or Taeyeon or Gunam Psy to perform at ur birthday party or a convention event, would u asked them to accept $50 as a performing gig since they already make millions upon millions from their regular career?of course not,you still got to pay whatever it takes to get them.what part of these people are "celebrities" do you not understand?they are not some regular joe or dick thats got to report everyday from 9 to 5 to work or they get fired or works two jobs 80 hours a week just to get by.the fact that people are willing to pay enormous sums just for a tiny itty bitty bit of their time shows that they are extremely in high demand and their time is extremely economically valuable.

now if loser chee actually spent his last 20 years of his unemployed bum ass live doing something extremely useful or practical to society, like building a billion dollar empire,or becoming ceo or cfo of microsoft or apple helping bill gates or Steve jobs,or becoming the number one surgeon in america/billionaire inventor of pharmaceuticals/biotechnology like Patrik Soon Shiong, and he decides to dedicate his time for free to the residents of bukit batok constituency we will bow down and lick his toes and kiss his arse, until then stfu.

both of them share the same appendix DR. but the difference of them is vast like the sun and the moon, one is a god of medical science, the other is a complete and utter useless bum.only losers say others are born with good fortune while he just wants to work hard.others work hard too and probably a hundred times harder than this unemployed bum.to them working hard is already burned into their character and ethics, theres no need to emphasize that, when u look at people like li ka shing and mark cuban,u know these people work hard, they put metal to the grind.
