HDB Town Council orders poisoning of pigeons

In this HDB estate, some residents feed pigeons by throwing down food. Other residents complain about the pigeon shit and noise. Town Council hires pest control to poison the pigeons. Pigeons die a slow and painful death. Someone records the video and posts it on YouTube and Stomp.

most of the time, it is those old folks that feed the pigeons with rice or leftover food. human is the main culprit and now the animal suffers

Birds and animals roamed our island before pple started to occupy it. The birds and animals always lose out. The HDB TC's choice of culling method is most regrettable. Death by poison is inhumane. This is typical of this govt's mentality, they love solutions that are cheap, fast, and convenient. They should trap the pigeons and release them on offshore islands. I know they use shotguns in less populated areas, at least death is instant or very quick.

How about introducing natural predators of the pigeons into the region.

Setting up some roadside pigeon stew stalls won't hurt either.

poisoned pigeons.............stray cats and crows makan them and mati also.................not bad idea leh................

hopefully other pests like roaches, rats and lizards also makan the poisoned bait and mati..............

next time, all HDB estates devoid of all non-human lifeforms.............

reminds me of the problem in OZ. they used to have a certain insect that eats the crop. some smart ass suggested to the government to bring in natural predators in the form of toads/frogs. in the end, the insects just climbed higher up the crops and the toads just sit there and watch the sky

I believe they still use shotguns, but in areas that are not that built up. They get volunteers from the gun clubs here, those who shoot skeet and clay pigeons.

Well then, its up to them to figure out the range of the birds to prevent them from flying back. After all, they are so "smart" and well paid.
