To me it's aLways Like: i am not going to do same damned thing for the next CNY..
But then, when the run up comes; it's aLL back to square one; of buying & stocking up of food stuffs
and goodies' in anticipation of a Happy & Prosperous CNY; esp being a Chinese !..

The actual meaning of CNY is actually a time of stock take!
Winter solstice is the coming of winter & in northern China winter comes cold & harsh!
The winter solstice dinner is actually a head count before the deep freeze & CNY is time for another head count, a count of what is leftover or still alive!
