A mountain named after Ong Teng Cheong

The 4,743m-tall mountain is believed to be the first in the world named after a S'porean

In the middle of a remote Tien Shan range that extends along the border between Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and China, a soaring mountain bears a name familiar to Singaporeans: Ong Teng Cheong peak.

Mr Kazbek Valiyev, secretary-general of the federation, told The Straits Times: "Mr Ong Teng Cheong has done a lot for Singapore and should be recognised."

Sugar Lee have also done a lot for Sg what

next maybe will ban sugar sales

eg ban alcohol sales

Sugar Lee could have this Cesspit named after him, most befitting.

i'm sure tcb would've won his case if this fact was known earlier as a mountain is solid proof, as compared to wee's peranakan dishes ;)

Is there a substantial or subtle difference between "compliant" and "pliant"? English experts care to weigh in?:D

'Pliant' court: court succumbs, yields to pressure by govt.
'Compliant' court: court readily agrees and co-operates with govt without much pressure.

'Compliant' more defamatory than 'pliant'. That's LSW chose the latter word; smart guy.

the "com" is the root word here, as in "better comply, or else" :(

That makes sense! What a difference it makes by adding "com" to pliant. But then the PAP government and AGC has a different take. It seems there is not much to choose from between compliant and pliant. To them, it seems like both are equally defamatory and contemptuous.

Big deal.

PM Lee is already a national hero. Have you forgotten that in his younger days, PM Lee, or Col. Lee as he was then known, rescued several tourists during the cable car crisis that gripped our nation.

He can only be named after a tombstone for that.
