Needed to change my flight so just called SQ reservation just 15mins ago. I was pretty shock to hear a heavily Indian accented man on the other end. I have a lot of problem listening to him. I don't blame him and felt sorry for him on me asking him to repeat himself many times as I could not make up what he was saying. I have seen videos about American companies training Indian call centres staff to speak American accented English or neutral English, what happened to SQ? On the other hand if SQ did not outsource to Indian call cantres then I will be even more puzzled. Anyone any idea?

I've stopped using SIA years ago. However I think there are still some SIA supporters . Probably business class travellers where the company paying for the flight.

I stopped using SIA because as a Sporean you pay more for a tix & yet face the pinkerton syndrome. Sporeans will also be disadvantaged if there is an accident because SIA is the same as the gov't of Spore.

Got plenty of good alternatives out there like Emirates, Cathay, etc.

I'm with TG cos now stay in Thailand. This trip is actually Bangkok-Jakarta-Bangkok but TG got no tickets and other airlines very bad timing so choose SQ but got to transit here so might as well stay a few nights here and see my family. Like you I had dumped SQ and that's after I moved to Bangkok.

Hey Cruxx there's only the SQ006 incident right?

That was the most spectacular cockup by SIA, but remember reading about other issues such as ignoring the engine problems of the A380

the taiwanese got SQ and its flying colours on the skin of body become funeral palour of some 82 bodies. that is around year 1999.

TG, Cathay, SIA are full fledged airlines that will put you on an alternate flight , give you FF at full value etc. When people say that they are having difficulty in getting good service with a high class and well estblished restaurant, you proudly chip in that you always bring your family to MacDonald which is also well run like Air Asia.

Hope you will learn to tell the difference. Notice Johnny mentioned some of the best airlines and not budget airlines.

Same experience last year when my wife called SQ.. An Indian lady with a heavy India accent spoke to her.. My wife had to repeat her request a few times before she finally gave up and put down the phone.. Same goes with Sinktel from my past experiences of fucking them up over the phone because of their problematic Mio TV.. Indian and Pinoy accents awaits you if you called their Customer Service Hotline.. On rare occasions, a local will answer your queries.. Other than that, be prepared to hear thick Pinoy and India accents over the phone when you called them up..

Still not get any answer if SQ had gone on the road to outsourced their call centre to India.

I have to admit I've stopped flying SQ for 4 years and during those days of flying in SQ I traveled at least twice a month and often have to call back to SQ's Singapore's call centre number and never can I recall having spoken to any foreigner.

Anyway recently I went Japan twice was flying, both times I needed to change flights and was greeted by a Hongkonger. I did asked both times where they were and both replied they're in Hong Kong. It was a pleasant surprise.

I've also stopped flying with SIA. Can't afford to keep up with their top-brand fares.

Now I fly with Thai Airways or Cathay Pacific.

I notice the biz class sections of these two airlines are always full on their long haul
flights. Biz class fare of these airlines is about 35% cheaper than SIA.

Food and service in these two regional airlines are just as good as the overrated SIA.

SQ girls also overrated I believe. Thai girls can be quite chio too. My Thai friends always tell me TG service to Thai pessengers no good only good to foreigners I don't know if this is true.

During the many flights on TG, I never noticed any kind of discrimination towards the Thai passengers in the 1st and biz class sections.

ya i agree. The SQ girls these days not as chio as the former ones. Or mebbe its me getting older :(

I just got an email telling me that my reservation on waiting list had been confirmed but has to call back to reconfirm. I damn sian liao. But to my pleasant surprised it was a nice Fillipina who speaks pretty neutral English with only little accent. After everything I asked her where she's based she told me she's in Singapore. I thanked her and was glad today's call was smooth.

Must agree flying in SIA is bad experience for Sinkies and the Asian people in Europe filght. SIA girls greet and treat Angmohs like they are dogs to their master Angmoh..

Went to Europe first time and flew SIA and on board the plane ask for propaganda STP newspapers from the SIA girl never came. Next serve meal give me a pass and let me wait long long. Then came with a veggie meal and say last one left. Ask for beer give me coke and let angmoh drink all the beers.

Complaint like hell to SIA PAP dogs don't bother to reply. Neber again fly SIA.

Why don't SIA have whole flight just for Angmoh lan cheow and chee byes only in Europe flights.
