EVEN as the Committee on the Future Economy (CFE) begins its work, private-sector economists caution against hopes for a big bang outcome that will significantly address Singapore's immediate challenges.

That's largely because technological disruption and the rapidly-changing global environment make earlier strategies - such as the tactic of picking winning sectors to boost economic growth - tougher to execute.

remove the PAP govt and thing will straighten out.

Probably too many civil servants out there that must justify their existence. This leads to over regulation & higher costs of starting & running a business in Spore. There are also too many special interests groups who will want to prevent change.

If these people can just pick out winners, they would be plying their trade outside of Singapore's. Government intervention leading a carefree life.

If they can pick winners, we won't be stuck with high cost, high rental model.

If there is any retooling to be done , may i suggest the services of resident forum tool jah rastafari.

All the winners picked into the civil service already. Only losers left! How to pick some more?

Wow. Most expensive mini-stars in the world and they say hard to retool. It's like paying a Ferrari price for a Hyundai Getz

Since we already went into vice businesses like the casino to boost economy, why not retool with prostitution trade?

there won't be any repercussion for these bunch of crony elites even if they fail to revive the new economy of s'pore. they are paid obscenely well and no pressure to perform.

Everything is tougher these days. Technology suppose to assist us, but ended up having to slash margins and face even more competitors.

Singaporeans' businesses need to have more balls and venture out to the ASEAN region without the guide of the government.
