Barclays Plc (BARC) dismissed a Singapore- based private banker and is helping authorities investigate potential wrongdoing affecting clients’ assets.

The banker was fired on Feb. 6 and the company is working with the white-collar crime investigation agency of the Singapore police force to probe the matter, according to Eugenia Koh, a Singapore-based spokeswoman for Barclays.

The British bank dismissed Jagdish Kale, who handled accounts of non-resident Indian customers, for alleged misuse of client money, Singapore’s Business Times reported today. Koh said a “very small number of clients” were affected, without specifying the amount of funds involved.

RAPISTS AND MOLESTERS

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/british-woman-india-shouted-help-hour-174316805.html

A British woman who jumped from a hotel balcony in India fearing a sexual assault said on Sunday she shouted for help for more than an hour before she fled.

Jessica Davies, 31, from London, said she had barricaded the door of her hotel room in Agra with furniture to stop two men from entering.

"I held my key in the lock and I could feel them turning it from the other side," she told the BBC.

Davies, a dental hygienist, injured both legs in the jump but said her ordeal could have been a lot worse.

The manager of the hotel and another member of staff appeared in court on Wednesday accused of harassing Davies, with their lawyer saying they denied the charges.

Davies said she wanted to talk about her experience "because the shame of sexual assault makes many people too scared to speak out".

CASE - SPORE PR FOREIGN TALENTS ....BUT IN TRUTH A FRAUDSTER AND CONMAN in INDIA

http://news.in.msn.com/national/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5567953

Hyderabad, Nov 4 (PTI) Industrialist and chief mentor of Trimex Group, Koneru Prasad, arrested in connection with the alleged irregularities in the APIIC-Emaar Properties land deal was today remanded in CBI custody till November 10 by a local court.
Prasad, who is also the promoter of Stylish Homes Real Estate Pvt Ltd and a director of the Emaar Hill Township Pvt Ltd, was arrested by CBI last evening on charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating among others in connection with a "scam" relating to sale of villas/plots by Emaar Hills Township Project at Gachibowli.

The CBI today produced Prasad before the Special Court for Economic Offences here and sought 15-day custodial interrogation, though the court gave the remand for seven days.

The court also directed the agency that Prasad be questioned between 10 am and 8 pm during the custody period in the presence of an advocate and produce him before it on November 10.

Stylish Homes Real Estate Pvt Ltd which was one of the marketing agents for Emaar is accused of unofficially selling villas and plots at very high rates.

Terming Prasad as a key person in the probe into Emaar case and instrumental in the APIIC-Emaar land deal, CBI Joint Director (Hyderabad Zone) V V Lakshmi Narayana earlier said, "Koneru Prasad knows lot of details in this case and his thorough interrogation is important."

Prasad allegedly had a role on dilution of APIIC''s equity and also Emaar roping in its group company Emaar MGF Land Pvt Ltd as a co-developer for the township which in turn resulted in reduction of stake and loss to Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).

CRIMINALS AND MURDERERS

http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/ubs-asks-singapore-court-seal-093833329.html

HONG KONG, March 26 (Reuters) - UBS AG has filed an application to the Singapore High Court, asking that two cases be sealed involving traders fired as part of the bank's investigation into reference rate manipulation.

The request for a seal underscores the highly sensitive information within the cases, which stem from a global crack down on banks involved with submitting false reference rates for various markets to benefit trading books.

Mukesh Chhaganlal and Prashant Mirpuri are suing the Swiss bank in separate cases for wrongful dismissal, saying they were sacked in order to lessen UBS's role in the alleged manipulation of currency reference rates in Singapore.

In affidavits filed on March 22, UBS lawyer Sannie Sng said that the traders were terminated as a "result of serious misconduct" and that it intends to defend itself against the lawsuit.
