SINGAPORE: A total of five applications for Political Donation Certificates were received for the upcoming Bukit Batok by-election, the Elections Department (ELD) announced*on Saturday (Apr 23).

Applications closed at 1pm on Saturday.

Earlier on Saturday, representatives from the People's Action Party (PAP) and the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) were seen leaving the ELD.

"Mr Murali is working very, very hard and he has our full support," said Mr De Souza, referring to Mr Murali Pillai, PAP's candidate for the by-election.

SDP representatives said they they were there to collect the form, and did not elaborate further. The party's secretary-general Dr Chee Soon Juan has said that he will contest the by-election.

Uber driver Sherwin Eu was also seen at the centre on Thursday.
