on 29 jan last yr tnp on sun reported that US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act makes it illegal for employees of US multinational companies to bribe foreign govt officials to get or retain business.

Money does not hv to be exchanged. a simple prmoise to pay money or giving "anything of value " ( B J ? = value ? ) constitutes a payment .


Anyone guity of such an offence can be fined up to US$100k and jailed up to five years.

There is also the prospect of a civil suit .


Lawyer Sunil Sudheesan , who is not involved in nbg case said that there is a possibility cs could be taken to the US to face Corruption Charges ...


... but nbg has been acquitted of corruption charges ...
