We. Are.
The People’s Association
The People’s Association was forged from the steadfast belief and visionary foresight of our founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew that multiraciality and multiculturalism has to be proactive, built up, developed, and sustained. We must work at it.
For over 6 decades, the PA has been at the centre of bringing people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and heritage together, building relations, forging bonds and anchoring our communities on a Singaporean identity.
These goals are as relevant today as they were back then.
The PA’s role is key to broadening our common spaces and fostering a shared sense of identity as we shape the society that we want to see, a home for all to embrace their dreams and aspirations.
People are at the centre of all we do.
At the same time, we can achieve so much only because of our people. Our staff, everyone, One Team PA.
Today is PA Day, and I would like to use this occasion to thank and pay a tribute to our staff - all of you at PA. It is your hard work, dedication, and selfless devotion to our mission which has made the PA what it is today. Many have gone the many extra miles, as we worked together with Government colleagues to keep Singaporeans safe and also protect livelihoods, often putting yourself and your family at risk.
This is a short video, and a small gesture, to convey our thanks and gratitude to an extraordinary team of people.
To mark our 60 years of community building, today I also launched ‘Not Just Another Grandpa Story’, an e-book which captures real, personal stories, reflecting the diverse voices of people sharing their memories, milestones and aspirations over the years.
I hope you find it an interesting and heart-warming read and are uplifted by the many inspiring stories from the ground.
