<< Remembering Lee Kuan Yew >>

Tomorrow is Mr. Lee Kuan Yew's birthday, who once said that he would even "get up" while lowered into his grave, if he felt something is going wrong for #Singapore.

I think Mr. Lee will be in great peace about our future, knowing the results of #GE2015, where Singaporeans voted in wisdom for continuity in stable politics and national progress.

Happy Birthday Mr Lee.

Today would have been Mr Lee Kuan Yew's 92nd birthday.

Although he is no longer with us, we would like to take a moment on this day, to remember him and recognise how Mr Lee Kuan Yew's determination and vision contributed to this beautiful Singapore we know today.

Thank you, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

A very special gift from the NTU students I met today. They collected a few hundred letters from Singaporeans here and abroad, during the national mourning period, and put them into a book. The letters express appreciation for Mr Lee and what he has done for Singapore.

SINGAPORE: Tributes poured in on Wednesday (Sep 16) for the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's founding Prime Minister, on what would have been his 92nd birthday.

Mr Lee died on Mar 23 at the Singapore General Hospital. A week of national mourning was declared and an outpouring of sorrow was felt across the nation as Singaporeans paid their last respects to Mr Lee. From last night, tributes were again shared on social media, with netizens saying they miss Mr Lee and expressing their gratitude for what he has done for Singapore. Hashtags such as #rememberingLKY and #ThankYouLKY were used online as well.

His son, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong wrote on hisFacebook page about a book that students from Nanyang Technological University printed containing letters of appreciation for Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

"They printed only two copies – one for themselves, and one for me," he said.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR LEE KUAN YEW

On the first trip a few rookie MPs like me accompanied Mr #LeeKuanYew to China in June 2006, we sat down to dinner in an Italian restaurant at 8 pm.

The dinner ended only near midnight, and only because Mrs Lee exhorted, "Harry, enough already. Let them rest!"

Mr Lee was intent on making the most of the time he had with us - to understand what we considered issues relevant to #Singapore's continued success and to share his views. He took pains to explain his varied considerations, like a personal tutor!

He was then already 83 and had stepped down as PM for 16 years. In every meeting, he put forward Singapore's position and persuaded his hosts why their interests were aligned with Singapore's.

Mr Lee would have been 92 today. He was not around to see Singaporeans celebrate Singapore50 (#SG50) nor vote in #GE2015. Had he been able to, I believe he would have been comforted by our collective actions.

Mr Lee's total dedication to Singapore reminds everyone of us to treasure our hard earned success as a nation, and how much we owe it to each other to keep it going. - Jo Teo

Most memorable quotes from Lee Kuan Yew

Today, on 16 September, would have been the day the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew turns 92 years old. Singapore’s founding Prime Minister’s death on 23 March 2015 left a nation in mourning. In his demise, he also left behind his legacy that is Singapore.

Mr Lee turned Singapore into one of the most progressive nations today and he did not shy from moulding the country with an iron grip. During his time, he was known for his authoritarian and free-from-ideologies approach. He made some extraordinary speeches, some inspirational, most brutally honest.

We take a look at some telling quotes that only the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew could have said.
