Hanyu-Pinyin Destroyed Historical Names.

During the Japanese Occupation of Singapore, many people were murdered.
Pulau Blakang Mati was also one such spot.
Changi Village wasn't spared too. Lucky it did not become Chern Nee.
Many battles were fought in many places within Singapore.

The introduction of Hanyu Pinyin has affected names.
Areas like Seletar(nearly became Shilida), Tanglin, Nee Soon (Yishun) Chia Keng, Lorong Kambing (both now within Hougang), Kim Chuan Road, Choa Chu Kang (at one time known as Caicuogang), Ang Mo Kio (nearly coined as Hongbauciao) Bukit Timah, Bukit Panjang (at one time became Zhenghua) and Jurong were some of these places.
Tekka Market became Zhujiao Centre
Chia Keng and Pulau Belakang Mati are unheard of now. At least at one time there was a Chia Keng prison.
Jalan Kambing has been lost to rapid development in Hougang (formerly Aukang).
Lorong Sang Kancil along Aljunied Road is no more. In its place is Geylang East.

Our Great and Lovable leaders do not call themselves Liguangyao (LKY), Wurinci (Goh Keng Swee)
Why then change other names and let history become forgotten.
