Workers’ Party Glenda Han Su May decides to end Hong Kong business and return to Singapore.
Workers' Party (WP) candidate Glenda Han Su May has decided to end her beauty business in Hong Kong, and return to Singapore to prepare for the next general election.
Han, 35, was most recently part of the WP East Coast GRC team, which won 45.17% of the votes. They were among the top three losing opposition teams. Before that, she was part of the WP Ang Mo Kio GRC team in the 2006 general election, which managed about a third of the vote that year.
The NUS graduate majoring in economics and Japanese ran a gift shop business before joining the Workers’ Party. In 2007, a year after the previous election, she sold her pub along Robertson Quay and joined the financial sector in Hong Kong, and has been travelling back and forth ever since.
In an interview with The New Paper, Han said her foray to Hong Kong was to gain international experience and now it’s the time to return so that voters will become more familiar with her. She plans to organise activities and networking platforms upon her return to interact with the electorate.
Han expects to be back permanently within two months but still hasn’t decided whether to join the financial or education sector.
