The issue if not he length of the password neither is it how strong the password is. It the system that prevents capture of passwords and the authentication methodology. Gone are the days of brute force or dictionary attacks. Its pointless having "MudcellconcertRed" as the password when it can be copied in its entirety or is captured by a bogus site.

I use 1password. I let the program generate the password for me. All I have to remember is the master password.

Password strength is irrelevant as long as you avoid stupid ones like "n0m3nc1atur3". The system is the weak link in most situations of hacking.

And for those people using internet banking and doing online purchases ...... Don;t be careless about personal details like name, passport number, address, DOB, etc. Using these little pieces of info, it is possible to fool a bank operator to gain access to someone's account, and from there, wreck untold havoc.
