老人儿媳接受媒体采访时表示，老人3点55分从电梯间出来，随后在单元门口休息了一分钟，刚准备抬脚走人，就被楼上扔下的共享单车砸中。
老人的儿子杨先生告诉北青报记者，父亲今年78岁，被砸后随即被送往当地医院抢救，1日上午，老人因抢救无效离世。杨先生介绍，他们家住在4楼，抛下共享单车的是同单元5楼的住户，平时大家都认识，这次抛下共享单车的是他们家一位60多岁的老人，“我也不知道他为什么会把共享单车扔下来”，杨先生说。
杨先生告诉记者，出事后，对方的儿子已经到杨先生家进行了慰问，目前仍在等待公安机关的调查。据当地媒体报道，当地警方已经对案件展开了调查。
据媒体报道，事发小区周围居民介绍，经常有人用电梯将共享单车搬到楼上，也有居民曾在楼梯间见过共享单车。
