Allah is the generic Arabic word for God. No religion has a patent on 'Allah'. When I was in Egypt, my Coptic Christian guide and my Muslim driver (both Arabs) say bismillah, inshallah and alhamdulillah and greet each other Assalamu-alaykum.

If I'm translating the bible into Malay, I can't insert the English word 'God' into the Malay version anymore than I can use the word 'thee' for anda. And the Malay bible is not just for Malays, it's for the iban and dukun and asli communities as well.

Malays must be retards if they see 'Allah' in a Malay Christian bible and suddenly jump to the conclusion that their own beloved God has abandoned them for Christianity. Duh...

Anyway these names of God are just names in a book, be it Jehovah or Allah or Shiva or Ahura Mazda... the real God is contacted in the heart and cannot be named by any language on earth. God cannot be found in a book.
