This trip back to Singapore although short is memorable. Brother-in-law was away and got to drive his car around after like 4 years not driving in Singapore. Was a little nervous i the beginning cos not use to it anymore. I have to say I drove quite a lot these 2 days.

This evening when I was driving to pick up a friend to East Coast for dinner, I suddenly realised that I had been driving with a cool head like I always do in Thailand. It was relaxing and I found that I had given way to many cars when needed. Also I did not rush like before in Singapore. I realised it only when I arrived in this traffic junction you see below, if before I would have stopped at the left lane but I did not because I was concern that I may block those who could and needed to turn left. I am much more considerate on the road than in the past. So I guess driving in Thailand had changed me to be a better person and more tolerant to road users. This is what the Thais do, always give way to others. Yes Bangkok roads may seem chaotic to many but then when anyone signals other drivers will let them pass.

Yaaaaaa I'm working on my weight which contributes to the blood pressure. But in Singapore I could surely feels my heart pumping faster than when in laid back Bkk or Jkt. Guess Singapore could be bad for my health nevertheless its nice to be back for some local food.

life outside sg is definitely slower. even where i am with timelines and trying to stay ahead in the innovation curve, we slow down whenever we can to let our minds ponder and daydream. everytime i return to sg, i can feel the rat race around me. to slow down and lower the heart beat further, i stay away from sbf while in sg. :D :p

Life outside sg is not just 'slower', it is at a more natural pace for human beings.

It's a slight misnomer to call that a slower pace of life as it implies that Singapore's pace of life is 'normal' and others just can't keep up.

Life shouldn't be about working your way to an early grave while getting plagued with stress and misery along the way in a claustrophobic environment.

hehehe... bro, how many folks in Singapore can actually keep a cool head when every minute is squeezed to making more money?

Rats start eating each other when there's overcrowding.

Although I live in third world countries and has to bear with third world inconveniences instill like the slow pace like you spoke of. But more than that is the freedom to mange my own finances rather than to have CPF do it for me and also take home 100% of what's mine. For me that's freedom, liberation. Living in Singapore I felt like in an eternal evil bondage.

Bro. I am so ashamed to admit it. If its me driving now, I will try my best to go right in front. Meaning i will drive to the left lane and waited for the green light. I dont care if I am blocking others as long as I dont break the traffic rules.

I guess I need to slow down and think. I need to be more considerate. Thank you for this post. I need to wake up!!
