So you saying we should ban all motorists from the road altogether too?

Pedestrians crossings are clearly marked for motorists to keep a lookout, but the same can't be said for cyclists who share the roads with motorists.

If ban motorists from the road, then what are the roads for? You still don't understand. How do you counter those pedestrians who flout the law and cross the road other than at designated crossings? Isn't it then having the same analogy as cyclists who share the road with motorists?

So, based on the above aspect and you want to ban cyclists, therefore I suggest you also ban pedestrians as well. Anyway, I won't dwell with you on this matter anymore. Every road user has to practice its own safety and also the concern to other road users whilst on the roads. Cheers.

The accident has nothing to do with the parents allowing their kids to rid bicycles. Please do not add on to the grief of the family.

I really don't understand why parents allow their kids to rid bicycles on the road. I really wonder why. So sad. No words can console their parents.

many of these kids stay a few blocks away and they do cycle to school...
what a tragedy!!

my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved parents....

sometimes i see cement mixtures heavy vehicles speeding down the road - it's just waiting for an accident to happen. this place is getting too crowded, too congested ...and people have that bohchap attitude!!!

if you are a driver, if you see pedestrians and cyclists in your path, i am sure you have the heart to avoid them....the tyranny of some of these heavy vehicle drivers esp the bus drivers is killing!!!

i think we all need a bit of tolerance
the motorists have to exercise vigilance and tolerance
the bus drivers should not exert their tyranny on the roads
all road users must always be alert, vigilant and tolerant
give way if we can
avoid accidents if possible
we are all stressed up in a very tight and congested city

Cyclists should be ban from the roads. I can understand how stressful those trucks/bus drivers can get with an increasing number of cyclists on the roads now. When they keep close to the left lane, last time only need to watch out for motorbikes on the right but now you see cyclists squeezing between them and the curb on the left, which are difficult to spot when you are in a bus or truck.

Kids will always be kids. Even if parents tell them not to do something they will still do it. I used to cycle alot in the early 90s and one thing that made me hang up my bike for good is the ever increasing traffic on the roads. These days I notice lots of heavy vehicles speeding, even on small roads. Cars also like to speed in pulling in and out of HDB estates. This accident is the combination of restlessness, speeding, overworked, underpaid, stress and other factors the Pappy government have brought to this island. My brother who used to work as a cement truck driver was paid by the load his vehicle carried. So the more loads you deliver the higher your pay. There are lots of FT drivers taking in far less pay for the same job. This kind of competition that involves heavy vehicles has its consequences. The price to pay is steep. May those children RIP.

If the PAP uses the death penalty on drug offences, even when the quantity is minute, what's holding them back from imposing the death penalty on traffic offences that results in death?

If the driver is guilty of traffic violation that resulted in death, he should pay with his life. That way, drivers will smarten up when they drive.

in such a small country with so many people,it's mad to cycle let alone drive!
the carparks are full
looking for a parking lot is a like a battle for life and death
stress level goes up
some even reverse their cars out of the carpark building !!!
stress, more stress and more accidents....we are over-heated everywhere!!!

accidents are accidents
all drivers know accidents do occur
all you need is just a second's lapse
somebody will be killed or the driver himself
too draconian a measure...imho

Cannot blame the parents really for both are out to work so as to be able to survive in expensive Singapore.

Payment for house loans, utilities bills, ERP. parking charges, road-taxes, high costs of provisions are leaving parents with no choice but to work from morn till dusk.

Little kids are left either with maids, grandparents or neighbours.

Being kids, they wander off and such things happen.

Such kids become victims of accidents and their parents are victims of circumstances.

This is what we call "a true 1st World" Singapore.

Who dare have more kids here?

Driver now in custody.

So? you can punish all you want. One reckless lorry driver taken off the road for good , another 1000 with similiar behavior that would not change still on the road.

Moreover, you punish this lorry driver, it's his family that really suffer.

No job. no food. no money. It's a vicious cycle. Punish the driver, his children will be society's problem in the future.

Just update situation.

I do not make any judgement. Not right to judge a case base on guessing.

With inadequate road infrastructure LTA must have come out with a brilliant idea. Let trucks run like race cars and jams soon disappear. Sometimes I even see superlong long flat bed trucks without being escorted. More people will die. Price of living in Pap world.
