For sure Gaddafi, his family members and their cronies did makan the money that they received for their oil.. But at least Gaddafi did gave his people a share of the oil royalties by giving them many State freebies as a Libyan citizen..

Gaddafi treated his cronies and selected groups of his people quite well. all those benefits were not for every one of his people. that's why there were Libyans who hated and wanted to depose Gaddafi, at the same time there were diehard supporters of Gaddafi who defended and fought for him to the very end.
