There are only 4 countries in the British empire prospers and keep their English language. British empire has 460million population under them and 90% of them are made poor nations, including Singapore, and non-British Subjects are not taught to speak better English.

Why? Pommies want them to remain poor and outcasts used them for cheap labours and poor people.

btw, English is a poor language. Chinese are better in grammar structure.

2/3 of the world speak Chinese style grammar. what you want to say put it first in the sentence. 吃饭了吗 food eaten? not the stupid way round have you eaten.

Obviously you have not travel wide to countries that speak Chinese style grammar, or learn and master Chinese language.

Most people despite their accent have better grammar and vocabulary than Singaporeans. Europeans whose first language is not English speak in a halting manner but they are correct in the use of English.

PRC Chinese are no different . This is what PAP has done to our education system. There was lecturer in Nanyang who was transferred to NUS and he was considered a polyglot who spoke 8 languages, most of them was European, and his English was horrendous, and he grew up in Singapore.

Loong in particular was praised by western media as "speaking good American English" during his visit to the White House on the invitation of Obama. You just can't make this up. Remember Loong also said Trump not sympathetic to TPP? I did not know the word could be used that way! So clearly there are individuals who excel in the local education system, demostrating their mastery of the English language on the world stage. It is not our fault that most Singaporean do not speak good "business English" like the pinoys or nehs. Not our fault sinkies are born tone deaf. It is all in the genes son. Fortunately things are about to turn around very soon! Give it 20 years.
