The Worst Nightmare For Truck Drivers In Winter
Sponsored

Sergey Dolya, Russian blogger, shares some photos from Yakutia, Russia, and tells about so called “taryn” – the most dangerous area on the winter road across the river. Water comes up on the surface, gets a bit frozen and the lower layer of strong ice comes down closer to the bottom – the result is a dangerous trap for any car or truck. If snow falls and covers the trap – you can say goodbye to your vehicle…
The rescue technology is simple but painstaking, it may take from 3 days to 3 months… If the vehicle is not pulled out soon after being trapped, it will freeze into the ice and the rescue process turns out becomes agonizing torture. Vehicles that haven’t freezen deeply into the ice, can be rescued for three days and 500 bucks. Some local men provide such special services. But in some cases, the process may last for months with no guarantee of success.
Initially they break out ice by small blocks. Under the hollow place ice freezes to form one more layer, breaking ice block by block workers slowly come down bit by bit to the wheels. After that, the vehicle is pulled out with winch.

This vehicle is not so lucky, they still decide if it makes any sense to start the rescue operation.

If they don’t do it in winter, in spring huge 2 m blocks of ice will crash the truck into powder…

Probably this truck is the only source of income for this man.

If you ever get stuck anywhere in winter and begin to get cold and feel sorry for yourself, just remember these Yakut men…
