Thank you for all my supporters who have "liked" the idea of me joining back WP and having faith in me.
You can see that there are people like Mark Koo, Caroline Tan and even Ricky Lye who would being jumping up and down if that the day ever comes for me to return to WP.
But that's the beauty of Democracy which will embrace diversity of views and liking. They have their right to their views.
I have resisted the many callings from many people for me to return to WP for all this while because there isn't really a need to. I have joined WP back in 2001, with the single aim of helping it to grow with whatever little effort I could contribute. WP has grown into the biggest force in opposition, surpassing SDA since 2006 till now.
I have joined NSP in 2007 with that same single minded aim of enhancing NSP after it left SDA. It has also grown, though not as fast as WP but it has become a party with substantial size and party branding now.
Well, never mind if other people say negative things about me of "party hopping" because at the end of the day, it is the end result that counts.... I have done my best, with whatever little resources I have, to enhance smaller opposition parties so that the democratic development could progress. Some has commented, with cynicism or otherwise, that if I have stayed in WP, I would have become an MP by now but that's not really the point and my aim. The bigger picture is Democratic development to our political system and I do not really believe in two party system but multi-party system.
People will live and die but the political development of a country must go on, so that our future generations can benefit directly from such development.
As far as I am concerned, the first phase of my plan has almost completed with the exception that the Third Force has not matured in NSP just yet. As long as there isn't another party, apart from PAP and WP, winning any seats in parliament, there is no Third Force.
I just hope that the Third Force will evolve out of the next GE, be it NSP, SDP or even DPP. It will then provide the stability needed for the transition of power. This is the second phase of the plan, the first transition of power after 5 decades of monopoly of power by PAP.
I may or may not be part of the Third Force but at the very least I can say, returning to WP is not in my priority list right at this moment.
I could safely say that so far, I have no regrets in spending more than a decade in opposition politics. Whatever comes along in the near future, let it be. What will be, will be.
