Good News!
To help publicizing the May Day protest event at Hong Lim Park, an Android app was created. It is now on Google Play Store:
appmayday.jpg

You could help to spread the word by first downloading and installing the app on your mobile device. The URL to download the app (May01.apk) is:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_ready2race.May01
(Description and illustrations about the app are uploaded to Google Play Store.)
Alternatively, you could scan this QR-code using a QR-code reader on your mobile device to initiate download:

OR . . . simply look up “May Day Protest” at Google Play Store.
(Once you have successful installed the app, May01.apk, onto your mobile device, you are able to share this app with others via e-mail, SMS or QR-code)

Looks like Gilbert Goh is more than a handful for the authorities. This can be very damaging. It was the SMS campaigns that ate into BN ground in the past and now this. I am sure something will be done by the time 2016 comes around. If they stop privates eyes looking into the infidelities of the elite by way of parliamentary legislation.

As we head towards May 1st 2013 and a bigger gathering at Hong Lim Green I wish to share some thoughts with friends and fellow Singaporeans.

We all recognise that Singapore is at the cross-road of change. The politics of the last 2 years impels us to think and reflect on what kind of Singapore we wish to have.

The gathering of 5,000 Singaporeans at Hong Lim Green on February 16 compels us to hasten our thinking on this vital subject. The recent video of Gilbert Goh shows a retiring mild and gentle middle-aged man sporting a tee-shirt with a logo “For a Better Singapore”. He is a man of few words but behind the mild façade I believe he is a man of steel. He is the “mid-wife” who almost single handedly and single mindedly transformed a piece of no man’s land into a civic space to be shared by all.

Political space in Singapore is indeed hard to find. What has been created and will be recreated on May 1st 2013 impels us to ask “What’s it all about, Hong Lim?”
Is it just about a protest meeting against the 6.9 million envisaged in the government’s Population White Paper? Is it about democracy and the right to be consulted? So it is. So we stood in the rain for 3 hours, listened to stirring speeches, chanted a few slogans and sang a few songs and then retired individually to our “mundane, depoliticized cocoons” awaiting for the next event to happen?

So sad and I rebel at the thought. But the reality of a de-politicized world is difficult to erase from my mind. The only way to re-enter a politicized world is to create one ourselves. Politics is not froth. It is the concentrated momentum of long years of slow-motion changes beneath the surface of a pallid society bursting to be free. Hong Lim is not just a “Speaker’s Corner” or a mere crumb from the political master’s table. Wedged between the glitzy moneyed skyline of new Singapore and old Chinatown Hong Lim can be a cradle for change provided we have the verve and imagination to make it happen.

It can be a vital space where the town meets the gown situated so closely to SMU. In the evenings the elderly “Lei Tai Sohs’ can meet the young and share with them their fabled stories of what it means to be part of a core Singapore that is in danger of evaporating. It can be a place where music and friendship bonds and intellectual exchanges propel us to the stars. Every NGO can be a co-owner of part of the action here.

Beyond the political framework of a split party system hobbled by horse-trading, party allegiance and power mongering the emergence of Hong Lim as the unprecedented political space for all citizens to share and share alike is like the dawn of a new spring. The only common denominator is the desire to “Change for the Better”.

All the best till we meet again on May 1st in Hong Lim Green.

Regards,
.

Why are you so concerned for the PAP?

I will be there on 1st May.

My entire family will be there.
I been talking to my friends and they all will be there.

This is build up to 2016.
The year we get back our country from those maggots in white.

protest is to march to istana.... stand down there stationary for fuck.

What a stupid waste of time. The day could be far better spent sitting down with your family and discussing issues which you have direct control over.

Even if the this "protest" does lead to the eventual downfall of the PAP, your life isn't going to change for the better just because a different team of politicians are running the country.

Your destiny is in your own hands. No politician is going to do things for you.

To get what is wanted, not only time must be vested.
Efforts and money as well.

And come to the crunch, blood too.

After the PAP, ALL politicians MUST be watched to see that they do what we want them to do, and NOT WHAT THEY WANT TO DO AS IN THE CURRENT MAGGOTS IN WHITE.

If you want to be an idiot, be my guest.

You trying to emulate Ah Loong as the fucking clown?
Since it is your board, you need my ok to do that as much as I need your ok to do what I know must be done.

Safe one or not? Anyhow download app into Android phone not very safe. Wait it contains some malware how?

For some reason your posts always sound like templates. Do you copy and paste a lot?

You do much better in making a collection of used toilet papers.
Some thing within your intellectual ability and understanding.

Follow that by sticking your head in toilet bowl and flush flush flush

Last time I bother with a bedbug like you. I put you into ignore and you can scream all you want there.
