As long as meritocracy is practiced, the Malays will always end up at the bottom of the pile because they lack the intellect, drive and propensity for hard work that is needed to succeed. The Malays in Malaysia cannot compete with the other races, so their racist govt practices institutionalised discrimination, or all their people will end up in blue collar jobs.
There is no such thing as meritocracy on the island.
