SINGAPORE - A Chinese national offered a $100 bribe to the security guard of a condominium to induce him to not register visitors to her rented flat where she and her roommate had been conducting vice activities.

Jiang Jinxiang, 28, was sentenced to three weeks' jail on Friday (Oct 13) after she admitted to offering $100 to Mr Azman Mohamad at One Dusun Residences in Balestier, as an inducement to not register visitors to her residence on May 28.

But she is appealing against the sentence. Bail of $15,000 has been offered.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Sanjiv Vaswani said Jiang admitted that she and her roommate, Xiao Hui, had been conducting vice activities and they knew their customers would be investigated by the police if they were caught.

Some time after midnight on May 28, Xiao Hui had a customer who was going to the flat but he did not wish to register as a visitor, which would entail his name being registered in a log book kept by the security guard of the condominium.

To avoid this and to avoid her vice activities coming to light, Jiang decided that she would bribe the security guard on duty by offering him $100.

As she was unable to communicate well in English, she prepared a note on which she scribbled the unit number and "Don't Register Thanks".

She and Xiao Hui then approached Mr Azman at the security post. She took out a $100 note from her handbag and the note, and placed them on the table.

Mr Azman refused the offer and also gestured with his hands, indicating his refusal.

DPP Sanjiv said Jiang persisted and offered the guard the money again. He refused.

She then took the $100 note from the table and placed it inside a drawer. She tore up the note and threw it in the bin before leaving.

Mr Azman retrieved the $100 note and the torn note and subsequently reported the matter to the estate manager, who advised him to make a police report.

DPP Sanjiv sought at least three weeks' jail for Jiang, saying that such an offence is serious and ordinarily warrants a jail sentence.

Jiang said in mitigation that she did not know that what she had done was against the law and that the offence was so serious. She promised not to re-offend.

She could have been fined up to $100,000 and/or jailed for up to five years.

She should have given him a blowjob instead of $100

All those security guards are horny, especially those "m", must have "eaten his fill" to refuse some "hand grease". It is not uncommon, to come across, these guards canoodling the maids, "banging " them, in places, where CCTV are out of reach.

China woman, should have invited him to her unit on the pretext of asking him to check the premises....give him a good time, film the episode secretly & rest, like in maths we usually , add "QED"..quite easily done. ha ha ha

good men should be respected
kudos to the security guards

Kudos to the security guard. A lowly paid wage-earner is cleaner than our multi-million-dollar ministers.

Who was it who said that you need to pay astronomical wages to stem corruption?

This one already " ate full" & most likely the security details there had been warned by their management...you think, they are so good, not to "grease their palms"? think again. It is in their DNA, their culture, don't praise too fast.

She could have gone out to fetch them in one by one.
A few different boyfriends every hour.

Agree. The residents should give a small gift.

If you don't pay John Tan astronomical wages, I will be corrupt. I am quite upfront about it.

I am proud of Mr Azman for preserving our culture and way of life.

Our culture is not to accept small, teeny, weenie, "lai see" of S$100.....must be bigger like, $1,000,000 not CNY but SGD!. That's our culture......$100 is not enough for Mr. Azman to go SPA for a special...

Our culture is "the open tender process" , a lot more sophisticated and not meant for mass consumption.
