SINGAPORE: Bad weather on Wednesday (Oct 5) forced a chartered Air India flight with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on board to turn back, just ten minutes from its destination of Udaipur.
"Sometimes Mother Nature has her own plans," commented Mr Lee in a Facebook post, using a Chinese proverb that translates as "Man proposes, God disposes".
"We were just ten minutes away from Udaipur when bad weather and poor visibility forced our plane to turn back to New Delhi," he wrote. "Waiting at Delhi airport now, hoping the weather clears and we can find our way to Udaipur (again)."
Mr Lee also posted a video of weather conditions during the plane's aborted landing in Udaipur.

Mr Lee's flight landed in Udaipur at 7.10pm local time.
He had originally been due to arrive in Udaipur - about a 1 hour 15 minute flight from Delhi - around 4pm, for the second leg of his five-day working visit to India.
Shortly after landing, Mr Lee arrived for an event at The Celebration Mall, to be greeted by loud cheers.

The mall is developed by Singapore-based real estate company CapitaLand – the first Singapore company to invest in the state of Rajasthan.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to launch a Centre of Excellence for Tourism Training in Udaipur. Channel NewsAsia understands PM Lee will have a shortened programme at the mall due to the travel delay.

Mr Lee is also expected to witness two agreements to boost tourism links between Singapore and the government of Rajasthan.
The day before, Mr Lee met his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi as well as President Pranab Mukherjee, and joined about 150 Singaporeans living in India for a dinner reception at the Leela Palace Hotel.
