SINGAPORE: Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) member Dr James Gomez said Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vivian Balakrishnan should stick to issues rather than "play dirty".
He was commenting on the ruling People's Action Party's (PAP) suggestion that the SDP has a secret gay agenda.
He said: "Given the experience of previous elections, the act of smear tactics is consistent with how the PAP approaches elections in Singapore. This is once again another example of how it is trying to distract the voters, this time using discrimination and divisive approach.
"Dr Vivian Balakrishnan should have stuck to the issue, chief of which, his mismanagement of the Youth Olympic Games. Now, he has evaded the issue for the longest time."
Dr Gomez was collecting his minority certificate with his fellow SDP member Sadasivam Veriyah at the Elections Department.
