Girl, six, ordered to marry rapist's 10-year-old son

A VILLAGE panchayat (council of elders) in Kota district in Rajasthan made a shocking order that a six-year-old rape victim has to marry the 10-year-old son of the alleged rapist, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The 40-year-old man had allegedly raped the girl twice, a fortnight ago and again on Wednesday in Kota, about 250km from Jaipur, capital of the northwestern Indian state.
But the accused refused to obey the order, and offered to marry the minor himself.
A local NGO had reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused on Thursday.
> About 40 workers of a cleaning company in Nibong Tebal, on mainland Penang, picketed on Friday over their alleged illegal termination, the paper reported.
They allegedly received the termination letters on Aug 31, without being paid their due wages and compensations.
The workers regretted that the Seberang Prai Municipal Council and the Human Resources Ministry had not seen to their plight nor made sure that their wages and compensation were paid.
They claimed that the company did not pay the RM900 minimum monthly salary stipulated by the Government and were only paid RM600. They claimed to have made a complaint to the Seberang Prai human resources department two months ago about their woes.
