Final bid to stop enbloc sale

By Jessica Cheam

THE appeal - and last ditch attempt - by 10 minority owners of former HUDC estate Gillman Heights to stop its collective sale was heard by the Court of Appeal on Tuesday.

This is the last recourse for the owners, who have fought the $548 million sale to the bitter end since it was approved by the Strata Titles Board (STB) in 2007.

Minority owners of the 607-unit, 99-year leasehold estate at Alexandra Road appealed STB's decision in the High Court, but this was dismissed by Justice Choo Han Teck last June

Wasn't Gillman Heights built for SAF Officers?, way back in the 1980's?

Minorities lost the case and their homes. What a relief for others.

Those who sold will be more than happy to buy other properties at a cheaper price now.

There is a price for everything .
Normally the minority who object will hide under the veneer of moral high ground, quoting reasons like sentimental attachment , unable to find the same type at that price, mislead by sales committee ect2.

However if you examine it closely, its normally greed and selfishness. They are normally those who are financially comfortable and therefore demand a kings ransom to move their butt. These are the ones who never care that many people are not well off and need the money from the sales proceeds to survive.

Looks like everyone is a winner except Capitaland. They locked in the price and the market is falling. They might even end up staying there much longer than they thought as rental by the developers is expected.
