Merkel imported a lot of refugees esp from Syria, hoping to have them work in the factories in Germany. But turned out these refugees did not want to work at all and wanted Germany Govt to provide handouts for living instead.

Nonsense. The turks gave germans how hard working German workers are. So when Syrian refugees show up, the germans had no doubt about their ability.
If you go to australia, it was the Lebanese that contribute to the car industry, but australia decided to stop building cars and focus on mining due to labour shortage issues.
But that was 10 years ago in germany. I am not sure if it is still the same now with its industrial base destroyed due to self inflicted policies and trumps indecisive policies.
