The public prosecutor’s office in Chemnitz has accused a Libyan. He is suspected of raping and robbing a 73-year-old in Chemnitz.
As the authorities announced on Friday, the 37-year-old is said to have entered the woman’s apartment via the balcony shortly before midnight on November 28. He threatened her with scissors, among other things, attacked her and injured her.
The man then forced his victim to give him money, jewelry, a bank card and other items and fled, the indictment says. When he wanted to break into a vehicle a little later, he was caught by a police patrol. After a short chase, the Libyan was arrested and has been in custody ever since.
It is not yet clear when he will be tried. If convicted, the suspect faces up to several years in prison.
