Berlin resident Renate Langanke woke up shortly after midnight to a loud explosion.
When the pensioner peeked out her window, she saw flames billowing from two
Mercedes-Benz brand cars parked across the street.

“Fire and smoke were everywhere, you could smell burned rubber, it was awful,”
said Langanke, who lives in a sleepy area with tree-lined alleys in white-collar
western Berlin. “I’ve always felt safe here, now I’m scared.”

Arsonists have set fire to 26 cars in the German capital in the last two days, mainly
from Daimler AG (DAI)’s Mercedes, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) and
Volkswagen AG (VOW)’s Audi, police said today. That brings the total number
torched this year in Berlin to at least 138, more than double the figure for all of 2010.

The rise in Berlin car burnings coincides with widespread lawlessness that erupted
last week across England. More than 1,500 people were arrested as rioters looted
shops, attacked bystanders and burnt autos. In Berlin, far-left extremists are
specifically targeting German luxury cars, symbols of the country’s wealth
and export prowess, police said.

in germany sechand merc and bmw is very cheap, does not mean anything, and you can see A series, come on, A series is dirt cheap in germany.

seems like the world is entering a angry stage...

Global Stagnation of Global Wages...

Global Depression (especially in Northern America & Europe Markets) luckily Asia & Africa are still growing... with Latin America behind...

I foresee that in Europe & USA there will be more and more riots breaking out... as more and more people are unemployed, no thanks to their happy go lucky trigger happy spending with their credit... their nations is loaded with debts, not serviceable... the bubble is finally bursting...

Agree with Bro Kuailan... Got a German guy attached to my company for a short attachment stint...Asked me why am I driving a Japanese made car instead of Merc or Volkswagen... Told him that sort of cars beyond my budget... Told me its strange for him knowing that the German made cars are so expensive here when in fact they are quite cheap back in his own country...

Cheap and inexpensive is common knowledge .
Please discuss the coming anger in all of everyone around the world .
You can see it even in Singapore .

Berlin police arrest man for torching 100 luxury cars

The BBC's Steve Evans says that police think other arsonists are still at large

A man has reportedly admitted burning more than 100 luxury cars in the German capital Berlin, in attacks that raised fears of political extremism.

Police say the 27-year-old, who is unemployed and has debts, was motivated by social envy and frustration to set fire to 67 cars over three months.

A further 35 cars parked nearby also went up in flames.

Some 470 cars - mainly BMWs, Mercedes and Audis - have been burnt this year in the city.

Such was the extent of the problem this year, up to 500 police were deployed on the streets at night to look for suspects and a 150-member dedicated squad was set up.

Berlin police also asked the federal authorities for high-tech equipment and helicopters with thermal image cameras.

The suspect was arrested on Sunday and confessed he had torched 67 cars between June and August, admitting that on several occasions the fire had spread to neighbouring cars.

"He wasn't motivated by politics but rather social envy," said senior police official Oliver Stepien. "He said in essence: 'I've got debts, my life stinks and others with fancy cars are better off and they deserve this'."

Earlier this month, the Berlin railway system was hit by arson attacks. Explosive devices were placed in a number of locations, including at least one on a high-speed rail track.

A previously unknown left-wing group, calling itself the Hekla Reception Committee, said it had planted the devices.

Products manufactured in their native countries are often very affordable, and it's not always because they have low prestige.
