George Yeo Asking For 2 Weeks

Unless GY runs, not much impact on TCB. But his running would run counter to the whole independent elected presidency. Conditions include no party affiliations etc etc. GY was feeding off the same trough just a month ago and after 20+ years as PAP how can he even claim spirit of independence. If GY ran, i lose respect for him.

I like GY and he can actually stay neutral and involve himself creating transparency in the election process. Perhaps set up an org to educate Singaporeans on secrecy of vote, why elections matter, even organize workshops for those that want to run for office - how to fill the forms, what is the nomination process, what are the finances like to run a campaign - cost of banners, posters, lorry rental, etc. The org can even have a fund (paid for my donors) to help pay for the deposit for candidates - maybe go through application process + workshops and can apply for funding.

In short get Singaporeans to become more politically aware.

Word is that he is running interference for Tan Cheng Bock. Against who is the mystery as all 6 approached by the govt are no longer keen. Tan Kin Lian is expected to be no show. The guy is an actuary and if he can't figure out the odds god help him.

Agree with you. Firstly the spirit of not been affiliated with a political party and second GY would do much better developing political awareness.

As of today there are three 'confirmed' strong contenders - TCB, GY & TKL. Mathematically speaking GY stands poised to win. 60% of Singaporeans voted for PAP in the last GE. Hence, GY is expected to garner these votes (although I can't visualize how many of the 60% will change their minds). The remaining 40% will be split among the two or more contestants. Furthermore, a win by a PAP-sponsored candidate is vital to the PAP to boost the sagging morale among its ranks brought about by the anti-PAP fervor as well as to prevent a repeat of the OTC-era bloopers. Hence, PAP will do its utmost to ensure a GY victory.

No way this will happen. Georgie knows which side his bread is buttered on.

Let's not forget he's currently living on government pension.

Free spirit my arse.
