Is this a dead 'mermaid' washed ashore on Malaysian island?

A dead 'mermaid' was apparently found washed ashore on a beach in Pulau Balambangan, a tiny island situated in Sabah, Malaysia.

STOMPer D came across this video, which shows the 'mermaid' lying dead on the shores of the island.

According to a report by Malaysian newspaper, The Star, local police had investigated the claims and dismissed it as a hoax.

An intrigued STOMPer D says:

"Is it true?

"You decide whether it is a hoax or not."
