A young man was jailed for 20 months on Wednesday for slashing and stabbing a full-time national serviceman with four others.

Tan Lee Wei, 21, unemployed, is the second person to be dealt with for the Pioneer Mall attack on Mr Lai Yu Wei, 23, along Jurong West Street 61 on May 16 this year.

He admitted to hurting the victim who was slashed and stabbed in the face and back with fellow secret society members Ng Chee Wei, 22, a full-time national serviceman, Tan Yi Tan, 21, unemployed, and Lee Bing Ru, 18.

Lee, a hawker assistant, also pleaded guilty in the same court on Wednesday to a similar charge as well as trying to harass a debtor on behalf of a loan shark the previous month.
