If you speak behasa melayu can they understand you? I understand that indonesian is quite different from melayu.

Although they share many words Bahasa Melayu & Bahasa Indo are qute different. Sometimes it can be confusing e.g. kereta=mobil, glasses=katacha mata, kawan=teman,....

The indonesian language is I think a modern creation to allow the different tribes to communicate with a common language. I'm no expert but I think there are many different dialects within Indonesia. I can only use bits of of Melayu, Singlish & Indo, which as a tourist is good enough:o

I've tried looking for a good Bahasa Indo dictionary but there isn't one unlike for Bahasa Melayu.

In Bangkok two holidays will turn Bsngkok into ghost town, year end New Year and Songkrang festival. Sabai sabai everywhere in Bangkok.

Useful to know when one is planning a holiday in LOS. I avoid traveling there during Songkran festival because I don't want to get soaked but didn't know that it is a serious holiday.

Singapore's traffic jam may not be serious buy waiting for a cab can be a problem. Just queued at T3 look at the line spent 20mins.
