Gambling game at the back lane

I was around Geylang Lor 16 sometime ago, happenned to see those gambling at the backlane. saw those "8 or 9" game and "Red and Blue".

It is obvious that it looks like "8", but if we put money on "8", they will open "9".

Do you guys know how it happen ?
What is the trick behind it ??

I saw somewhere near lor 16 or 18
i saw them in petain road before too.

i dont gamble there. they usually have a few "own kaki" gamble, to attract other people.

anyway, i just curious to know what is the trick behind it
