It's unfair to compare an external degree with an internal degree. The prestige factor comes from the admission criteria because the physical space of a campus is limited and only those who can meet the higher admission criteria can get in.

In fact the gal is getting a very good deal as she can "piggyback" on the prestige factor generated by other (internal) graduates who met the higher admission criteria. Be contented. UOL external may be easy to get in, but it's not easy to get out compared with private universities in Singapore who collect a huge sum of tuition and exam fees. The gal should compare her UOL external with Curtin and RMIT in Singapore, not UOL in UK. A bit "tum sim" already. If her "A" level results are mediocre, and she gets to be known as UOL internal just like those who managed to get in because of their better grades, then it's not fair to UOL internal students.

Having said that, the real deal is not UOL in UK. The real deal is University of Mumbai and South Pacific University.

UOL external programmes are reputable as they are of the same exam standards as studying on campus. In private sector, many companies recognize UOL business degrees like NTU or NUS. They will pay a UOL 1st Class Honours more than a NUS 2nd-Uppers. UOL Law Degree is less accepted by our bar.

The reason behind UOL's success is that they do not leak exam questions and most UOL subjects are mostly 100% exams-based.

Almost all other external degree programs by famous private schools have project-components or leak exam questions. They may even hire an AMDK lecturer to leak questions to students. Worst of the worst, are those accredited or validated degrees; the local private schools simply set harder questions but leak 100% to their students and get the university to validate that "these questions are hard enough and meets their standards."

UNI-SIM, not UOL-SIM, is the easy one. This degree is easier than polytechnic diplomas, so in civil service, even if you get full scores for UNI-SIM, it is only considered a pass bachelor's degree.

"Unemployed for seven months after graduating from ..(SIM GE) in 2015, Francis ....found himself grappling with the fear that he had “chosen the wrong degree”.
The business and management student, who earned a lower second-class honours degree from SIM GE’s University of London (UOL) programme, sent in resumes “almost every week”, but only received a handful of offers for temporary contract jobs..........Francis took on temporary contract jobs .....where he worked alongside several private university graduates. With the hourly pay of S$10, or S$1,800 monthly — even less than a diploma holder ........the latest Private Education Institute (PEI) Graduate Employment Survey found that only one in two (47.4 per cent) private school fresh graduates secured full-time jobs six months after graduation. ....."

Can you name the person with UOL 1st Class Honours that was paid more than a NUS 2nd-Upper ?
