NUS sociologist Tan Ern Ser said that, by laying out the facts, Singaporeans can "begin to deal with something concrete, rather than the nebulous … we can arrive at some 'optimal' figures, rather than speak in fuzzy terms."

Dr Leong suggested that the authorities provide further breakdown of the profiles of the new PRs and new citizens according to their professions - similar to what the United States does - instead of just by educational qualifications. He also suggested that the Government set a population quota or a rate of foreigner influx to better prepare Singaporeans.

There's no point as most of them are frauds in the first place. Nobody trusts the figures or the paperwork that comes with it.

totally agree with you.

Whatever a gov does or recommends can never be good for the citizens.

Govs dont generate wealth; they suck it from the productive work force in the form of taxes or stealth tax thro inflation.

How can anyone trust any gov???

Of course you want the new PRs to be Young and Well qualified. You don't want the OLd and illiterate do you?? How they going to support you??

Dumb is also something we do when we go to the toilet ......why talk to yourself and even if you were tempted to you might get discouraged because

of the smell from your dump.

It's "dumb" not "dump". "Dump" is something you do when you go to the toilet.

Nobody believe in PAP anymore. I would rather they have live debate on TV rather than simply send our views to their email address to be kept secret. At worse, our views get manipulated and presented like Singaporeans are agreeable to PAP policies. Look at what Straits Times just did not too long ago, simply came up with mocked survey and claimed 60% of Singaporeans are satisfied with the current cost of livings. If PAP is sincere, come out and engage with Singaporeans, book a big national theatre and thrast it out with all Singaporeans from across the board instead of hiding behind creative statistics.
