2.建交初期的迅速发展：（1990年中新建交）

　　1992年起，通过中国高校代招，每年选派200余名高中毕业生来新学习，新方提供奖学金。1995年起，新方以民间方式，在中国中学招收高二、初三在校学生，每年约300-500人。

　　1993年，中国教育部先后批准上海交通大学和南京大学来新开办中文MBA学位课程，至今已有15所大学在新举办20余个学位课程。

　　目前，中国在新学生数量多达3.3万人，近½享受新政府奖学金就读。其中1万人在政府大专院校，1万人在政府中小学，1万人在各类私立学校。2006年新加坡在华就读学生1500余人。

　　中新政府奖学金互换项目：每年10人。

　　国家留学基金委公派访问学者：中国每年派出20余名访问学者来新；从2007年始，每年将派100余名博士生来新学习。

　　高中毕业生护理专科项目：1993年起，每年150人左右，由新方提供奖学金。

She is now working in USA

She said
Only 2 types of PRC scholars stay in Singapore after their scholarship.
1) Those with very poor families and cannot afford to waste more time going to US/UK for postgraduate
2) Those with poor grades

We are paying way too much taxes for these MIW to pay themselves fat pay and throw money around like no bobusiness, and gave them way too much power for them to do whatever they like. Time to revoke their pay and power.

Don't forget that it states FULL SCHOLARSHIPS. Those married FTs can also get scholarships for their spouse. Then add in the GLCs and the number is very large. My class last time alone had two wives whose husbands were on scholarships from NUS medicine faculty. Both of them said that they will leave SG once their husbands graduate.

When you have a morally bankrupt political party they will soon run out of ideas and resort to desperation and all sorts of hoodwinking.

The way it is now, in terms of percentage of GDP, we spend less than other developed countries on Education (and Healthcare). Instead of using taxpayer's money to educate Singaporeans, they use it to educate FTs. I will not be surprise if the scholarship money given to FTs is calculated as expenditure on education by the PAPies.

Why oppo no question PAP in parliament on this? If the scholarships serve a purpose and give us an edge in China, fine just tell us and we accept. But why hide all these from us? We know all these only from foreign source? This gahmen treat us with so much respect! KNN!

How about polytechnics? How about undergrad? post-grad? Doctorate? ..... people first?

First you see China people coming in to work in lower end jobs and vices, now these China people are coming in as your bosses, lecturers!

Where's Singapore? ... somewhere in China's wonderland where China people get free food and free money! then they go to the real world like USA etc etc.

We should budget for at least 5,000 a year - they are here mainly for 1 year on average, mostly postgrad

From 5,000 hopefully enough will be attracted enough to stay here - and we have to give them incentives to do so

We must tap PRC talent to keep our economy booming

If Sg is smart, they will try to get the trained students into Singapore so we don't have to pay for their education.
